If you are looking for a course to satisfy the TN requirements to get your Handgun Permit you can sign up now for courses that are starting in July. We have 3 dates available right now; July 2, 10, and 17. The cost of the course is $110 which includes training materials and the NRA Basic Pistol book which is an incredible reference.
I believe that we have put together one of the most professional, well qualified cadre of instructors in Middle TN. If you are in the Nashville area, we hope that you will choose to train with us. We promise that you will leave a safer, better shooter when the class is finished. If you are looking for a cookie cutter class to pass you through, you need not apply. This is a serious course that will take at least 8 hours.
Space is available, but it is limited. We intentionally limit our classes, so check out the Training Page for more info and sign ups. We look forward to working with you.
I have been telling you that we are finalizing our Training Academy with the state of TN. Despite the fact they were not very welcoming of my Virginia credentials, we are going to be able to move forward. I appreciate all the time the state has spent with me on the phone to work out exactly what we needed to do. Hopefully by the end of March 2010 we will be fully operational. We are currently working up our class structures and course outlines. We will immediately be offering the TN State required class to obtain your TN Handgun Permit.
You may be wondering why we are going to start offering classes through the formation of our Training Academy. I don’t think any gunsmith ever gets into this business without a love for education. I have been an educator in the private school system, and I continue to want to be teaching people. This website is the most obvious expression of that desire. We constantly want to let you know about things that are helpful to make you a better shooter, cop or hunter. The other reason is that safe gun practices make all of us better. If we train ourselves to be better at safety everyone around us benefits.
Our classes will not be tactical. They will not be for “cyber shooters”. They won’t teach when you should or should not use a gun. What they will do is prepare you for gun ownership, gun safety, and get you ready to apply for you TN Handgun Permit.
In the coming days we will be outlining what you can expect from all our classes, including our ladies only classes. Stay tuned for more information, and thanks to everyone who is working behind the scenes to make this a reality.
This year has been a wonderful year for so many reasons. We have seen more and more of you come to the website and participate with us. The blog has been growing steadily which has provided much satisfaction. Many of you are now first time gun owners as of last November. All in all a good year.
As I look back on 2009, I am pleased that we have introduced a few new things to you this year like the Ruger SP101 conversion. We are sometimes asked to do things just like this that have become so popular they just stay with us.
We have also tried hard to keep you in the loop with good information on a variety of topics that included many different product reviews. I have been most interested to see all of your interest in the Taurus Judge. Does this mean more and more of you are buying shotgun pistols, or are you just casually interested?
Well, here are some things to watch out for in the coming weeks and months as we get ready for 2010:
- AR-15- there are some big things happening here with the AR-15 platform. Things are falling into place after a 5 month process. We love the platform, and think you will love what we will be offering.
- More product reviews. Woolrich has been so good to us this year. They have consistently responded with product for us every single time we have asked for it. Right now we have requested products from Blackhawk, 5.11, and Eotac for a tactical polo round up. Hopefully we will have something for you soon.
- New variations of the SM-1 package. If you have an M-3 light, we have something cool for you.
- More information on competitive shooting sports.
- Finally, we are trying to work out the beginnings of Mossy Creek Training Academy, to begin offering the CCW permit for the State of TN.
Here is what we need from you: ideas, products to review and of course interesting projects. The ideas can be about anything gun related. The products to be reviewed can be sent to us anytime your company would like. The interesting projects are always welcome.
